Successfully ran £3.5M Ministry of Defence Applied Research Package on textiles and protective clothing.

Aided in transfer of military clothing and personal equipment research requirements to industry and academia.

Textile & Protective Clothing Section - Research Team Leader 1993 - 2001 Defence Clothing and Textile Agency Colchester, UK

Built and led a team of half a dozen, mostly young graduate, researchers.

Team achieved 20 patents & approx. 50 papers published in conference proceedings and learned journals, including Nature.

Active in international research collaboration - TTCP UK Point of Contact for Textiles, Chair TTCP-MAT-AG10 'Technologies for Enhancing Individual Combatant Protection', Anglo/French DRG WG14 'Soldier for the Next Century' (UK nuclear protective clothing expert) and involved in several EU projects.
